I am...
My name is Karla Lopez I am 42 years old, and I live in Sacramento, CA with my husband Efren, and two kids Dahlia and Santiago who keep us busy with soccer, but in our free time, we like to run races, paddle board, bike ride, hike and camp. We have a dog, he is a Yorkie Poodle whose name is Messi (like the soccer player), and I have about one hundred plants throughout our home.
My career interests are...
I am currently employed by Sedgwick as an Accounting Associate; It is a great company that I love working for, and I see myself growing within. I enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program in Accounting to obtain the accounting knowledge and experience needed to succeed in this career. With this degree and the support of my colleagues and managers, I believe that I can become a senior accountant and possibly retire as a manager of the company.
My plan to succeed is...
To succeed my plan is to stay committed until the end. I know that school is not going to be easy, especially at my age and with my already busy schedule. My motivation is going to be to remember what it is that I want to gain out of this. I will give it my all and take this opportunity to gain knowledge and educate myself with every single class I take. I will push myself to provide my very best effort in all my assignments and tests.
My chosen mission statement is…
The mission statement that stood out for me was “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson. My takeaway from this was that every day will not be great, I just need to keep trying and putting in effort, to continue to grow. I will focus on why I enrolled at the University of Arizona Global Campus and continue to grow no matter how hard the days are.
Why I am enrolled at UAGC…
I enrolled at the University of Arizona Global Campus to make myself and my family proud. When I graduate, I will be the first generation in my family to get a degree. Not only will this accomplishment be good for my career path, but I also hope that I can motivate others in my life to further their education. I tell my kids that knowledge is something that no one can ever take away from you so learn everything you can.
