Vulcan-1 launch in the Mojave Desert
1 / 6
This is a liquid-propellant rocket powered by a fully 3-D printed rocket engine that I helped design, manufacture, and launch. The propellants used were RP-1 (refined kerosene) and LOx (liquid oxygen). The engine produced 750 lb of thrust, but the rocket only reached an altitude of 4000 ft due to high-speed winds blowing the rocket horizontal mid-flight.

My main contribution to the project was the external pressurization system that pressurized both propellant tanks and provided the pilot pressures for actuating our pneumatic valves. The Vulcan-1 rocket was launched in the Mojave Desert in May 2016.
