Utility rates Research Project
This Research Project is still in progress.
The main tasks of this project was to:
Research and understand historic and current trends of utility rate change nationally and in California
o Understanding it nationally benefits integral groups firms in other nations
· Summarize the recent changes and upcoming utility rate changes for PG&E
· Provide summary and break down of current utility rates. Provide suggestion on best rate to use for IG customers.
· Research on timeline/schedule of new rate roll out:
o SDGE TIME OF USE ROLLS OUT MARCH 2019, New "final decision" TOU rates are expected to be available for opt-in starting Oct 2019.
o New TOU rates expected to become mandatory in Nov 2020 (except for grandfathered customers)
o PG&E will ultimately default all its C&I (Commercial and Industrial) customers onto TOU rates in November of 2020.
· For the new Time-Of-Use rate structure, determine some strategy on changes in PV/battery system design to mitigate system value lost
