Within our Connections Project in our Scholars program, Environment, Technology, and Economy, our group was tasked to come up with a solution to a problem within a sustainability issue. We worked in a team to address an issue of sustainability that we all found important, which we chose to be consumption.
We used the Design Thinking approach in order to address consumption of clothing on the UMD campus. Through our project we implemented a pop-up thrift store within our community which educated visitors on the ills of fast fashion and techniques to adopt in order to be a more conscious consumer as well as extended the life-cycle of clothing that was donated by community members.
