Transformational change refers to an extreme shift in an organization’s structure, processes, direction, and/or culture to increase sustainability in today’s business climate. Transformational change is “emergent”, meaning an organization will not truly know the impact this large-scale change in the beginning. The company only knows that it is necessary. This causes ambiguity among organizational members because this type of change is so immense that it can be hard for employees to process. This causes anxiety, uncertainty, and resistance during the change process that can impair efficiency and possibly result in a failure to complete the transformation process (Wylson & Chesley, 2016).
