The scope of the project is to design and manufacture a device that will harness wind energy to produce electricity using Piezoelectric Extension Sensors. The energy of the wind will create vortex shedding that will induce vibrations in the bluff body and piezo system and trigger the piezoelectric effect. A team of seven fourth year students of mechanical engineering and the project advisor will work to design, simulate and manufacture a product in eight months that can generate electricity in a natural environment, where it is exposed to excessive winds, moisture, and changing wind directions.
