The artwork called “The Two Fridas” by Frida Kahlo contains at least 3 principles of design, these principles are Contrast, Emphasis, and Movement. The painting shows contrast by the coloring in the two dresses vs the background (the floor and sky) the background is more dull and less vibrant while the dresses are bright and thriving with contrast. The painting shows Emphasis is by making the open chest and heart the focal point. It attracts the eyes to the center of change and allowing the mind to think of why it’s the main focus. The painting shows Movement by making a tube/ vine like line that connects the old Frida to the new Frida, it allows you eyes to trace the old heart to the new one. Therefore the artwork “The Two Fridas” by Frida Kahlo contains 3 (or more) principles of design.
