This academic paper is a literature review I wrote for my Introduction to Research Methods in Criminology class. In this paper, I reviewed many studies that examined the effects of gender, race, and age on sentencing outcomes for criminal defendants. I found that all three factors do have significant effects on sentence severity and/or incarceration length.
