The Athena Project is a points-based award and student interest system that is designed to encourage students to adopt a growth mindset and engage in their own development. Students are encouraged to grow and thrive, engaging in long term personal growth in their areas of strength. The areas of Athena reflect the four portfolios of the Student Representative Council, Stewardship, Culture, Leadership and Solidarity. The Project also includes the important areas of Academics and Sport. Students take on an active role in their development in these areas, with St Pius X supporting and guiding them on their journey.
Student’s that are co-constructors and active participants in their learning demonstrate higher levels of wellbeing, academic growth, personal satisfaction and resilience, and lower levels of stress, cognitive overload, and academic disinterest. Athena will provide a framework for the development of a student’s intrinsic interest in a wide range of areas, while recognising and celebrating success as a valued part of a vibrant learning community.
Students will be given the opportunity both inside and outside the classroom to explore and engage in their interests and to have this initiative recognised and rewarded.
