This project was aimed at doing capacity testing and analysis of high capacity high backpressure pumps. In order to do so existing test setup was studied and understood. The standard operating procedure for the test rig operation was defined.
The objective of testing and analysis of HCHBP pumps and High pressure powered pump pumps was successfully achieved. The following result was obtained from the analysis of capacity graphs:
• Capacities obtained over operating range i.e. 0-14 bar motive for 0-8.5 bar back pressure was satisfactory.
• Capacity decreases as back pressure increases.
• For the same backpressure, the capacity obtained is more for higher backpressure.
• Filling time is greater for higher back pressures.
• Pumping time is more for higher back pressure and goes on decreasing with higher motive pressure.
Problems that occurred during testing were solved and necessary changes, modifications were done in pump mechanism and test rigs. Obtained results were analyzed and crucial improvements and enhancements were employed.
