The title of this project is Teenage Declaration of Independence, this assignment was given in American Literature. This project is about the student dress code being unreasonable especially with female students. This is an argumentative writing assignment, I had to argue on why there should be a change, and use examples on how it can be much more reasonable. I created this on a google docs, we were given an organizer to help set up exactly how the layout should be. In order to put it all together I had to be able to back up my claim with examples and be able to explain how it was unreasonable. I chose this project for Digital Portfolio and Senior Defense because I truly don't understand why teachers and staff are much more worried about what a student wears to school rather than going to class and completing their work. I have strong feelings on this topic because as a female student, it makes me frustrated as to why the dress code is the way it is, especially with female students. This writing assignment allowed me to become an innovator because I had to speak upon my ideas/ thoughts on how it can be changed into a much more reasonable way. I used the skill critical thinker to analyze why the dress code is so unreasonable especially when it comes to female students. I have grown I am now able to write an argumentative essay with not only giving my view on things, but allowing myself to approach it in a more respectful way. Progress I still must make is doing research on both sides so I would be able to have future conversations, especially with those who have another opinion
