Minnesota strongholds are dependent on biodiversity to maintain a strong and diverse range of ecosystems. Biodiversity is the key to a resilient ecosystem. Ecosystems thrive when the amount of biodiversity is higher due to more genetic variation. When genetic variation is increased the percentage of species able to overcome changes in ecosystems also increases. Minnesota’s wide range of ecosystems allows many different species to thrive in a changing climate.
