The purpose of this project was to design a heat exchanger to heat styrene to a desired temperature. Concepts of conduction and convection were used in conjunction with basic heat exchanger design equations. Mathcad was utilized to help calculate for convection coefficients and for the lengths of the pipes. Ultimately, an effective heat exchanger was able to be created for the desired application through the use of basic heat transfer topics.
