Using project fundamentals learned in the course, and the limited resources at hand, we designed an inexpensive solution to the problem of unmonitored shopping carts causing damage to vehicles in parking lots. We designed StopCart - a device that uses simple sensors to "stop" the cart from causing any damage by applying brakes, which provides an inexpensive solution that can be retrofitted onto existing shopping carts.
The device has the potential to be used for tracking shopping cart movement within large stores, capable of collecting valuable consumer data.
