Over the summer of 2024, I worked as a Financial Planning Intern at Steve Madden in their New York City office. Our intern class was given the opportunity to create a Capstone Project presented to department heads and respective peers. The task was to propose a new company for Steve Madden to acquire and my group chose Natural Fiber Welding as our business. In the presentation, I engaged in the monetary aspects with one of my colleagues and the entirety of our group collaborated weekly to execute a successful piece of work. This included financial forecasts, a marketing campaign, and an integration plan. I completed revenue forecasts, profitability analyses, and set a company budget. Overall, we created a great proposal that the Steve Madden company thoroughly enjoyed.
After my completion of the Capstone Project, I learned a substantial amount about my potential and the knowledge I obtained over the summer. For one, I developed my deep and mutli-faceted understanding of business operations, finance, marketing, and strategy. I grew a sense of all the various elements required to business and acquisitions. On top of that, the challenges of scaling a business and the dynamics that drive corporate growth. As a group, my peers and I gained a sense of how to work in a professional environment to complete our project by its deadline. In all, it was a great learning experience and I am so glad that I have the Capstone Presentation to show to potential employers.
