Before psychologists can conduct research, they need funding to acquire any necessary equipment or assistance. The National Institute of Health (NIH) can supply them with grants for this purpose, and researchers need to write and present grant proposals to get these. In my Professional Development in Psychology class, I designed a hypothetical observational study and made an NIH research grant proposal for it. In this specific aims page, I explained how and why I want to find out how comfortable older adults aged 65+ are with seeking professional mental health care in remote formats due to COVID-19 restrictions. I also accompanied this with a PowerPoint presentation, which can also be found on my ePortfolio. This was a great learning experience and it gets me excited for future research projects. My ability to write a grant proposal highlights that I can effectively design an observational study and clearly communicate my motives, intentions, and expected outcomes.
