This is a recreational basketball league that I co-founded out of the desire to provide professional training to kids playing a sport they enjoy. People play sports for the joy of the game and to see themselves grow, so why should the coaches be someone's random older brother or dad? This league was made to provide a place for kids to learn and grow not only in the sport they enjoy but to also learn how to be a better person, teammate, and community member. The creation of this league represents numerous qualities I possess and the values I cherish. This shows my leadership by taking the initiative to co-found a league. Next, it showcases my practical skills since I wore many hats. It helps demonstrate my marketing and social media skills, management skills through scheduling and preparation, and minor accounting skills such as reconciling bank statements. But this league demonstrates my values of community and assisting others. This league was made on the foundation of providing professional training, unlike any recreational league in the area. This is to grow the confidence of the players through their game, but through sport, also teaches league members respect, teamwork, and accountability. My desire to not only help others but better those around me is exemplified through this artifact.
