Member of an 8-person team with the goal of making a cheap, easy to use autonomous cleaning robot that is delivered via commercial drone, I was part of the electrical team that decided what electrical components to use, test them, and build the circuitry. My contribution to the project was as follows:
- Conducted research on electrical components to determine best fit for design goals such as low power and weight requirements.
- Performed electrical calculations to ensure required maximum input voltage requirements for circuitry would be under 12 volts to fit within the recommended limits of the Arduino Uno microcontroller
- Synthesized measured data on several components to assist in additional design decisions
- Communicated with team members about issues with and changes to the design
- Designed circuitry to best fit spacing, balance, and weight constraints to allow the drone to safely pick up and deliver the robot and limited the electrical component weight to 0.4 kgs out of the 1kg maximum overall weight goal
