This project explores how energy resolution is affected by the shape and setup of a detector. The goal of the project is to help design, implement, and operate the detector to achieve the goals of the experiment. The project looks at electron performance of the High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) and focus on the electromagnetic calorimeter (CE-E). It presents results on the effects of detector configuration on the efficiency and energy resolution of electrons. It also explores how significant these changes are for a case study and suggests possible ways of addressing any inefficiencies.
The project helped me develop my critical thinking and communication skills. It took both oral and written communication with my teammates to develop a research goal, create original visualizations, and analyze the final results, culminating in a presentation of the entire process which required effective written communication. This is authentic research which comes with problems that must be solved. This required critical thinking to come up with optimized solutions.
