The culmination of the Cal Poly Aerospace Engineering undergraduate curriculum, the three-quarter long design course involved working in a team of five students to develop a conceptual design for an Arctic surveillance unmanned aerial system (UAS). Starting with only a problem statement, we drafted a project plan, designed a concept of operations, established the system architecture, developed the various subsystems, designed the aircraft, and analysed system performance.
