Attached is a sample Motion Summary Judgement I wrote for my Legal Writing Course at the University of Maryland (ENGL 392). Prior to this assignment, we had also completed a Legal Memo for the same case, so at this point, I am pretty familiar with the case and the additional court cases to compare for law application. As a result of my increased familiarity with legal terminology and structure over the course, I felt more confident in articulating my arguments clearly and effectively in the Motion for Summary Judgment. Through the approaches of analogizing and distinguishing, I was able to construct a fluid and structurally sound argument and explicate the implications of the law as it relates to the facts of the case.
