RTM 314: Hospitality and Customer Service
Fall 2022
The course RTM 314 has demonstrated the fundamentals of customer service to be incorporated into a level of dignity and showmanship. The course is described as a study of various aspects of combining hospitality and customer service throughout one’s career. By applying a system of practice for future services, then I can develop my customer service skills in multiple settings within recreation, tourism, and hospitality. I provided a study to understand the design and organization of components that demonstrate great customer service through a specific industry. This industry was based on the winery business and was written on my Industry Report assignment highlighting Sunstone Winery.
I demonstrated the importance of earning customer service skills along with being able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate statistical information presented to me. I showcased these skills by incorporating the course SLO by demonstrating the ability to research and take in concepts, characteristics, and trends of the service industry. Additionally, I can identify different delivery systems from hospitality services to be incorporated into all experiences. By analyzing and evaluating, I can also relate management systems to services such as sales and marketing, operations, and lodging. By applying customer service expectations and performance, I can expand my skill to evaluate further beyond satisfaction to create loyalty. Furthermore, through my research on my Industry Report, I became knowledgeable about succeeding in consumer needs and understanding how services should be presented to improve businesses. Lastly, I practiced communication skills within the course to enhance customer service.
Overall, I found RTM 314 an important course to learn from as it had given me the most looked-for skill within the RTM industry, and that is customer service. I can apply and practice these skills in my upcoming internship and future careers to demonstrate a great work ethic as an employee.
