RTM 202: Planning Programs and Events for Recreation Experiences and Lab
Fall 2020

During my time attending the acclaimed event planning course of 202, I developed tactical skills in the form of administering and implementing different kinds of events. Tailoring a link to what I am passionate about, this course has given me the rightful skills of teamwork, leadership, verbal/written communication, and organizational planning. Through the many assignments that instilled learning triumphs, I found my Individual Event Program Plan to showcase the most achievement through mastery of event planning. In brief, I developed a wedding reception and ceremony regarding real-life situations, such as the infamous coronavirus.

I focused on the goals of the couple by implementing statistical research on real companies to develop a partnership to create what the couple aspires for their wedding to be. I studied and developed organizational and communication skills which are listed to be important qualities to follow through with most of the SLO descriptions for course 202. Integrating these skills, along with teamwork and leadership for accomplishing other course assignments, allowed me to demonstrate knowledge of leisure resources and the ability to implement, organize, and evaluate programs through my experience in strategic planning. By utilizing other companies to assist with the goals of the couple’s wedding, I was able to manage the role of coordinator for other services which significantly provided more attention to the couple creating a leisure/play factor. By having the couple voluntarily partake in their vision and development toward their wedding, then it created a phenomenon of trust and involvement to meet a goal.

The RTM course of 202 has achieved in teaching me key skills that would be useful and recommended for my future internship involving a definite towards of event planning. I enjoyed this course and am eager to improve on my program implementation skills for future career positions.
