A Personalized Approach to COVID-19: Understanding the Future of Physician Care During an Infectious Disease Outbreak.

Abstract:
Personalized medicine is the future of medicinal practice, yet the medical world has been slow to adapt this approach as little is still known about it for infectious disease outbreak. The primary objective of this study is to explore the ways in which doctors who specialize in personalized medicine approached COVID-19 response and discussion with their colleagues, patients, and stakeholders. This outcome of this study seeks to provide guidance for how to provide a more personalized approach to infectious disease outbreak.

How it will help me within my career:
As a Public Health Science major, this research gave me the opportunity to hear first hand from doctors about the medical field within the scope of personalized medicine. I learned that communications is a interdisciplinary field that can take many forms. With my degree and my aspirations of becoming a doctor I think I will have a diverse background and experience that stands out.
