The “AppointMe” project, developed during the Impact Startup Challenge - Gerontology, is a testament to the practical application of academic knowledge in creating real-world solutions that address pressing societal needs. The app, designed to help the elderly manage their daily affairs, is rooted in the principles of the lean startup methodology that I learned during the course. This methodology emphasizes building a minimal viable product (MVP), iterating based on user feedback, and focusing on delivering value quickly and efficiently.

The “AppointMe” project marked a significant milestone in my entrepreneurial journey. It was the catalyst that sparked my passion for building something from the ground up and solidified my identity as an entrepreneur. Throughout the course of this project, I developed crucial communication skills, which were essential in pitching the idea, gathering feedback, and working with team members and stakeholders. Additionally, the process of building “AppointMe” significantly boosted my confidence, as I saw my ideas take shape and create a tangible impact.

This project also helped to reflect on the kind of entrepreneur I want to be, instilling the key values of empathy, innovation, and perseverance—qualities that are central to my personal and professional growth. Moreover, the “AppointMe” project directly reflects SUSS’s core value of contributing to the community. By creating a solution that specifically caters to the elderly, a vulnerable segment of the population, I was able to give back to the community in a meaningful way.

“AppointMe” serves as a powerful showcase of my ability to apply entrepreneurial principles in a real-world context. By using the lean startup methodology, I was able to create a product that was both functional and relevant, showcasing my ability to iterate quickly and adapt to user feedback.
