Class Description:
Lectures and in depth critiques of paintings by students giving them the ability to see and discuss each other’s work; Attempt to simulate classroom critiques of paintings. This class will not give home assignments or provide demonstrations.
Abstract painting is the primary focus of this class. Specifically Modernism. Ms. Lipsky works with students on an individual basis. Her expertise is in Modernism and Color.
About the Instructor:
Pat Lipsky is a color field painter and writer based in New York. Her work has been widely exhibited and is represented in public collections such as the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge, MA; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY. Her current gallery affiliation is with Eric Firestone Gallery, New York City, and East Hampton. Lipsky's writing has appeared in “The New Criterion”, “Tablet Magazine”, “Public Books”, “The Awl” and others.
