Class Description
Students learn how to apply the fundamentals of color theory to painting from perception (still life or the model), imagination, or abstraction. Lectures demonstrate various styles and methods that master painters and movements have utilized in composition. Group and individual critiques help students articulate their creative strengths. Beginner to advanced welcome.
About the Instructor:
Margaret McCannn has had solo exhibitions at Jannone Disegni di Architettura in Milan, The Painting Center in New York, and Artemesia in Chicago. Reviews of her work have been included in La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, the LA Times, and Huffington Post. McCann studied at Yale U., Washington U. in St. Louis, and the NY Studio School, and her awards include a Fulbright, Ingram-Merrill, Blanche E. Colman, and NH State grants; and artist residencies at Ragdale, Millay, AAIRome, and Cité des Arts in Paris. McCann lived in Rome for eight years, where she taught at American abroad college programs. McCann has also taught at Boston U., U. of New Hampshire, Syracuse U., UVA, Pratt, Montclair U., Semester at Sea, and NY Academy of Art. McCann writes art reviews for Two Coats of Paint.
