Design and build an oscillating air engine with the intent to optimize speed with a budget of $33. We derived equations in order to calculate for certain variables such as the angle of oscillation, piston length, crank disk radius, and cylinder bore depth. Once the calculations were acquired hand drawn schematics of the engine were needed in order to make a 3-Dimensional model using SolidWorks to ultimately test and simulate the moving parts of the design. When the engine simulation and design met the standards we physically created each individual engine part using the materials listed in the bill of materials using a lathe, mill, vertical bandsaw, and other machines and tools. When all the parts were machined we assembled the engine and physically tested our make and model using compressed air.
