In this project, I had to create a plate that would have open slots so that two orange blocks (connected to a red handle) could move, but never bump.
A series of projects similar to this specific one, had been assigned to my Intro to Engineering and Design class. Every week, we are are assigned three Onshape projects in which we need to replicate a design using our prior knowledge. I applied what I learned about mate connectors (in this case Pin Slots and Revolutes) to create the object.
A challenge I encountered was adjusting the mate connectors to each assembly piece. For example, I would select the revolute mate connector and it would prompt me to select two faces in order to connect the two. So I had to be careful when selecting the faces, and not accident click on the entire object; otherwise it would have inserted improperly or in an awkward position.
As the link shows, I was able to overcome any challenges and produce an item practically identical to the criteria. My experience has shown me that perseverance is important, especially in designing moving parts.
