At NASA Ames Research Center, I worked in the bioengineering and instrumentation group understanding the activity, distribution, and diversity of microbial organisms in the aerobiosphere. Specifically, I designed and built a waterproof sensor package used to measure the environmental and physical conditions during the sampling. The project involved a good understanding of mechatronics and data analysis. Writing code to communicate and control sensors, building integrated circuitry, 3d printing parts, waterproofing ports and sensors, and analyzing the data were all daily tasks. Overall, I learned a diverse range of skills from purchasing the components to collecting data in the field.
