Class Description

Expression takes on many individual forms in global contemporary art today and is rapidly evolving around the world. Students learn to relate to these trends by first starting with the fundaments of line, form and movement and then develop an understanding of the mechanisms of anatomy so they can venture into expressive forms. Starting with short poses and gradually building to longer poses, students gain confidence in experimenting with different styles while also building their control of the media. More advanced students look at compositional placement of the figure on paper, creating multi figure compositions that may bridge several sheets of paper. More advanced students also explore how color brings meaning to their work. Each students path then becomes unique. The class is geared toward regular feedback and guidance in a way that works well within the framework of an on-line course.
