My project is essentially an Arduino Uno-based sonar module that utilizes an HC-SR04 ultrasonic rangefinder and a TowerPro NG90 microservo. The sonar plot displays the angle and distance of any object incident to the acoustic pulses within 40 cm, but the serial port will display distance values up to 4 meters (the maximum accurate range of the ultrasonic range detector). Arduino sketch was written independently; processing sketch was borrowed and adapted from “HowToMechatronics.com.” The intended audience is someone with a college physics and materials science background.
