Eve-Teasing, a “euphemism” used in the Southern parts of Asia like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, describes sexual harassment or molestation of women by men that occurs in public. Often referred to as street harassment, it is said to be a form of sexual aggression that can range from sexually suggestive remarks, brushing in public places and catcalls to groping.
Women in cities around the world live with this fear of victimization and crime. Such fear is of a huge concern and is usually provoked by encounters with men who harass in public spaces. These encounters are often “unpredictable, potentially uncontrollable and hence threatening.”
Sexual Harassment of women is highly prevalent even in the bigger cities of India and is often considered to be an expression of masculine domination over women
The objective of this project was to study the extent of sexual harassment being faced by the women population traveling on public transit and to come up with solutions to battle the same.

1. What did I learn creating this work?

I, for one, have always been a strong advocate of women empowerment and independence. This project made me realize the struggles a woman has to go through in her everyday life and the battles she has to fight just to get out of her house and lead a life of her own.

2. How can the skills I used creating this work be used in other areas of my life?

This project required me to do extensive research on the extent of harassment on women. I have become a better literature reviewer with this project and have also learned to analyze data better.

3. What areas of my life (curricular and co-curricular) are connected in this work?

I am a woman who was born and brought up in a city in India and have had to go through a form of the struggles mentioned in this project myself. This project helped me connect my professional and personal life.

4. What lessons have I learned? What would I have done differently? Why?

This project has taught me a lot of things. It has made me understand the struggles of women better and made me realize how even in this modern era, the society still continues to ill treat women. I wish I could have pursued this project even further and worked on it as my Master's Thesis.
