The goal of this project was to design and fabricate an Arduino controlled robot powered by a pneumatic piston. An air reservoir in the form of a tire provided pressurized air. The pneumatic piston was fired at timed intervals through a pneumatic solenoid valve. Different sensors and switches were used in the control of the robot: A reed switch was used to detect the rotation and travel of the wheels to control the firing of the piston, and a magnetometer was used to control the steering of the wheel.
As the controls lead, I was responsible for modeling the controls system, creating the program for controlling the Arduino microcontroller, soldering and wiring the electronics circuit, debugging, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
