A LMS is a Learning Management System. This is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of educational courses or training programs. There are a number of Learning Management Systems such as: Canvas, Schoology, D2L, Blackboard, Moodle, and various others. Portfolium can be integrated with a LMS through an LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability). This means that once the LTI is set up, Portfolium will automatically open up within the LMS.

As far as SSO (Single Sign On), an institution can use SSO to have their students and faculty use one login for multiple applications. This can be set up with Portfolium, where one login will allow them enter their LMS and Portfolium. While this is great, we also encourage Portfolium users to have another email address associated with their account. This way after the student graduates, they can use their other email address to login into Portfolium.

When it comes to assessment, Portfolium has Course Level Assessment and Program Level Assessment. This means that instructors can grade assignments using Portfolium, using a rubric and a learning outcomes, to measure if their students are learning the skills and objectives necessary to pass the assignment/course. While Course Level Assessment and Program Level Assessment are two very different things, essentially these allow instructors to grade assignments, evaluate the course to ensure its meeting its learning outcomes, and assess the Program to ensure that the Program is meeting the necessary skills and learning outcomes.
