Question 1: What was your Leadership Element Style (i.e. Cloud, Thunder, Lightning, Rain, Sun). What were the pros and cons of this style in relation to the leadership boot camp and working on a team? Be specific (100 - 150 words) Feel free to include an image/graph of your pie chart based on your element style.

In the leadership boot camp, the “Sun” style centers on enthusiasm, creativity, and a cheerful attitude. People who use this style often spark fresh ideas and keep everyone motivated. This can lead to innovative problem-solving, higher morale, and a strong sense of teamwork. When teammates feel encouraged and energized, they are more likely to share their own ideas and collaborate effectively. On the other hand, this style also has some downsides. Focusing too much on being positive can lead to ignoring important risks or challenges. Some team members might feel overwhelmed if the “Sun” leader introduces new ideas too quickly or does not allow enough time for discussion. To be successful, it is important to balance optimism with careful planning and open communication.

Question 2: What have you learned about your own leadership style? Be specific - use material from class and the Boot Camp experience (100 - 150 words)

During the Boot Camp, I noticed both strengths and weaknesses in my leadership style. In one challenge, we had to cross a “firewall” by climbing up a wall, tying ropes to four poles, and walking across the ropes to get to the other side. I was excited to take the lead and quickly suggested a strategy. I thought if we tied the ropes higher, we could move faster. But I didn’t explain my idea clearly, so my teammates hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. This caused delays and made some teammates feel uncertain. I also tend to take risks—at one point, I tried rushing across without testing the ropes properly, which made others nervous. However, I encouraged everyone to participate and made sure no one was left out. I realized that leadership isn’t just about having ideas but also about explaining them well and considering others’ comfort levels to make teamwork smoother.

Question 3: How do you view teamwork differently as a result of the Boot Camp? What worked well? What didn't work well? Was there conflict on your team? Talk more about team work and how it applies to leadership (150 words).

Before the Boot Camp, I didn’t have any specific expectations about teamwork. However, after going through the activities, I realized how important understanding and coordination are in a team. One thing that worked well was the diversity in our group. We had members of different ages and a good balance of male and female participants. Everyone was friendly and willing to contribute, which made teamwork enjoyable. However, at first, we struggled because we didn’t communicate well. Some of us didn’t fully express our opinions, which led to us getting stuck on a few challenges. As the Boot Camp went on, I noticed how each activity revealed people’s personalities, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as their leadership styles. This helped the leaders learn how to assign roles more effectively based on each person’s skills. Overall, teamwork isn’t just about working together—it’s about knowing how to bring out the best in each member.
