this alternate history U.S. constitution was the result of the constitutional convention class in which I participated. in this class we role-played as the founding father and debated our way into making a new constitution for the new country that was to be born. this was an extremely fun experience that was filled with unlikely alliances and shocking betrayals.

we started by getting into the head of the character of Robert yanling who was an amalgamation of two real founding fathers Robert Yates and John Lansing. as a confederate I was against the idea of a new constitution and a powerful new government my goal was to either disrupt the convention so that we don't pass a constitution, ensure that it has a weak government or have a bill of rights. and being the only other congregate from new york I had a great rivalry with Alexander Hamilton. he made the convention hard for everyone and at every step, I tried to make it hard for him ( this was a lot of the fun of the convention). my allies included Roger Sherman, a delegate from Connecticut, and William Paterson, a delegate from New Jersey. Occasional supporters are Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, Oliver Ellsworth of Connecticut, John Dickinson of Delaware, and George Mason and Edmund Randolph of Virginia. they all helped me to change the constitution and help make it what we turned in at the end.

the constitutional convention was filled with lots of debates and fights over public policy and how the government was going to be stretched. going in we all wanted something different from the real condition so we did not make the compromises that the real founding fathers made instead our government was a lot more wired. the first example is that to prevent a king we instead have a trifecta of 3 executives each one checking each other and each one having different powers. we also made sure that the presentation in congress was going to be large with one congressman representing only a couple thousand people.

this was my favorite activity that I did in the honors college it combined acting which I love and history which is something love. and to make it even more fun we got to learn about how the founding father wrote the constitution and how a government worked by making a new government. and most importantly it showed that there are so many conflicting interests in government that the only fair way to move forward in making a government is to make compromises and work with your enemy for the greater good.
teammates included: Cindy Dang, Lauren Fadel, Jose, Joseph, Sebastian, Mae, Martin Fourillier, Lucia, Ruth, Alex Franzblau, and Nicole. All of these students are FIU honors college students and each played a role in making the constitution
