Meet Kathy Fisher! Kathy is a senior at SF State pursuing a bachelors degree in Psychology and Paralegal Studies. We are exited to see Kathy work alongside JusticeCorps this semester.

Since it began in 2006, the Bay Area JusticeCorps program has served more than 120,000 self-represented litigants and graduated 400 JusticeCorps alumni. JusticeCorps is an AmeriCorps program which has both a fellowship for recent college graduates or current seniors, and a student member program for students who will be enrolled in one of five partner universities: UC Berkeley, San Francisco State, Cal State East Bay, Stanford, and San Jose State. Every year, we recruit 7 fellows and 70 university students, who serve self-represented litigants in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and Alameda Counties. Our members assist litigants who cannot afford an attorney to help themselves resolve their legal matters in family and civil law. During the 2015-2016 Academic Year, ICCE recruited 10 SF State students to the program. The 1700 hour (full-time) members stipend is $5,775 and the 300 hour (part-time) members stipend is $1,222.22. JusticeCorps accepts applications during spring semester for the year-long program, which begins each fall. They also offer a select number of full-time positions through which members serve 11,700 hours and receive a living allowance throughout their one-year term of service, as well as an increased education award.
