The Ice Maker 2019 project centers around the context-driven design of a system intended to facilitate the treatment of AIDS in a real-world environment. The proposed system would have the capability to produce one-hundred kilograms of ice in just twelve hours, which would be used to transport AIDS medication across the chosen country. It would accomplish this by running some selected refrigerant through the system and altering a number of variables that affect the coefficients of performance, temperatures, costs, and areas of the system. A country with an actual AIDS crisis and need for the project was researched and selected. This project will focus on South Africa, taking into account its cost of electricity, its restrictions on certain refrigerants, and its true need for the refrigeration system.
