Dog food can either be bought or homemade. All the foods that are commercially available can be nutritive but they may lack the natural organic diet which is more beneficial. It is not a condition that you must give only commercial feed. You can prepare food in your home and add supplements for deficient nutrient values.

The staple for a dog is a raw diet. So, in this article, we shall discuss the method to provide a raw diet properly for your lovable pooch.

When you provide food for your dog, it has to be balanced. This goes for raw food diets too. Therefore, here are things you must follow to provide a proper raw diet:

Maintain a balance between protein and fat

A dog needs energy to function properly. It gets most of its energy from carbs, fats, and proteins. You can deprive or reduce the carbs for your dog. But you cannot cut down on proteins or fats because it will deteriorate their health very badly.

Also, you cannot provide excess fat. It will affect your pet's health. Therefore, give a combination of fats and protein where the total fat content is only 10%. Also, add some carbs for better cellular and hormonal functions for your dog.

Maintain calcium and minerals in the raw food

When we mention that you have to provide calcium and minerals, it doesn't mean that you have to buy supplements and add them to the diet. Rather, you can simply add a bone or two along with the fat and protein mixed meat.

A dog requires around 10 to 12% of calcium and minerals while pups require around 15%. So, add a couple of bones or buy your meat with the bone for an effortless raw diet.

Organ meats as Multivitamins

Every meat has a different type of micronutrient in it. Vitamins are one of the most important nutrients for dogs. You have to provide the dog with this vitamin and again you don't need to rush for inorganic supplements. Rather, you can simply go for organ meats.

Organ meats like liver, heart, etc. can supply a lot of vitamins, and adding around 10 to 15% of this will help provide complete nutrition to your dog.

Provide a variety of fats

Don't stick with fats from goat or chicken. You must also add fats from fish, oil-based fats, etc. But avoid saturated fats completely.

Conclusion

When it comes to a raw diet for dogs, you must try to provide all the balance in the nutrition on your own. Try to add all the nutrients mentioned above and create a balanced food for your beloved dog. Never leave out anything from the meal and keep your dog Hale and healthy.
