This artifact is a photo of me and the supervisor team at the University of Maryland’s Conferences & Visitor Services (CVS), where I served as a Hospitality Supervisor. This leadership position involved overseeing a team of community assistants, managing summer housing for thousands of guests, and resolving day-to-day operations such as check-ins, room inspections, and emergency situations. I was selected for the supervisor role after my first summer as a community assistant and returned the following summer to mentor new staff and collaborate with professional administrators. The position required strong communication, quick decision-making, and coordination with various departments like housekeeping and public safety.
This experience represents my growth in leadership, responsibility, and interpersonal skills. I learned to manage conflicts professionally, delegate tasks efficiently, and respond to unexpected challenges with composure. My work helped ensure that visiting scholars, students, and guests had a positive and organized experience. Through this role, I deepened my understanding of customer service, teamwork, and accountability. I developed a respectful, service-oriented mindset that I carry into both technical and non-technical roles. This artifact highlights my ability to lead by example and support others in a high-pressure, real-world setting which are qualities that are equally valuable in team-based tech environments.
