As I reflect back upon my experience at Cal Poly, I can easily see the many ways in which my involvement in the Honors Program shaped me and my college years for the better. Coming into college, I was certainly more naive than I am today and with less of an awareness of it. The Honors Program provided guidance, endless opportunities for growth and connection, and holistic learning that proved to be a tremendous formative force. While still ignorant of many of life's greater secrets and all that humanity has to offer, I can safely say I am a better-informed and more aware individual than I was in the Fall of 2017 thanks to the Honors Program.

In completing this reflective project, along with the many others I have done in the past for Honors courses, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and experiences I was granted through the program. One of my favorite college experiences was my first-year service project: creating a community garden with other students was highly rewarding, and I can know I have helped to accomplish something lasting with my time here. Just this morning, I walked by the garden and saw all kinds of beautiful veggies and fruits growing in the beds — knowing that I helped bring those into existence is an incredible feeling. Additionally, that project introduced me to the systems and forces that create, construct, and implement ideas on campus. By familiarizing myself with these, I have a basic foundational understanding on how the bigger creative systems in the world function; this knowledge has and will continue to be useful as I continue to grow.

The Honors Program and all the wonderful people who have created and maintained it have been incredibly impactful and beneficial to my growth as a student and a human being. I would like to thank Dr. Fiegel and everyone working with the Honors Program for all their hard work and compassion. I will carry all that I have learned, warm memories of my experiences, and the friendships I have made with me as I graduate from Cal Poly and move into the rest of my life.
