Being in the Honors Program provided me an opportunity to expand my knowledge on skills that I would have not otherwise had the opportunity to experience. When I was a senior in high school applying to Cal Poly, I had no idea that there was even an Honors Program, and am so grateful that I found out about it after my first quarter. Being in the Honors Program has not only allowed me to take courses that really challenge me but has also helped make Cal Poly feel that much more like home. I especially enjoyed learning how to apply the experiences I have had such as being a leader and a mentor and reflecting upon how they have aided my personal growth. Additionally, I am very grateful that I was able to go through the leadership development series through the Honors Program as it allowed me to learn how to become an effective leader.
Overall, I have enjoyed the Honors community immensely as I have gotten to know students, in small class settings, who I would have probably never had the opportunity to know if we had not had both been in the Honors program. All the students I have met have impressed me immensely both with their skill sets as students and with their dedication to education. I am so appreciative that I have had the opportunity to grow as a learner with these students. Lastly, I am very grateful for the classes that the Honors Program has allowed me to take as they deepened my knowledge in various subjects, allowed me to expand upon my abroad experience, helped me grow as a leader, and connected me with the Cal Poly community.
