Generalist Nursing Practice

My Statement
Generalist nursing practice is the ability to provide treatment and care for all patients. Nurses need to showcase proficiency of high-quality care to patients of all cultures and ages. Nurses must respect this culture with appropriate care and unbiased attitudes. Care may be provided in a range of settings from bedside nursing to community health nursing within a patient's home. Practice must be integrated with priority skills to ensure that you are able to distinguish which patients are higher acuity. Assessment and critical thinking qualities are essential to high quality care within generalist nursing practice. Nursing practice must be performed to meet the patients goals and work toward improving their overall health in all aspects of their lives.
Rituals Interview Paper
This ritual interview paper meets the narrative for generalist nursing practice as I delve into the mental health of a grieving adult to identify any barriers to the healing process. Through the utilization of assessment and therapeutic communication skills, I was able to put into practice several generalist nursing skills. Communication, in regards to a difficult topic, has allowed me to strengthen the skills necessary for high quality nursing practice. I was also able to put into practice my active listening skills and the use of therapeutic communication to build rapport and trust with the subject of this interview.
Child Advocacy Paper
The child advocacy reflection explores how to assist children in preparing for secondary education against barriers.This paper further develops the knowledge base for advocating and integrating knowledge into care for children. Identifying and assessing for vulnerabilities within population groups allows for a better idea of what care needs to be integrated. High quality care and critical thinking skills can be strengthened with utilization of assessment within generalist nursing practice.
Vulnerable Population Project
This presentation on vulnerable populations meets the narrative for generalist nursing practice as my group came together to form a collection of priority care toward a vulnerable group. We selected the vulnerable population of children to dive deeper into and identify their high risk needs to develop a better understanding of the nursing practice they require. Through this population’s inequities within healthcare, we are able to determine how to best advocate and integrate vulnerabilities into generalist nursing practice.
