The overall purpose of this forest management plan is to accomplish the private landowner’s goals regarding the Valencia Forest. The property was purchased from California Polytechnic State University around a year ago, and this provides access to all historical information on the property. One of our objectives is to characterize the forest structure, composition, stocking and productivity of the Valencia property. Our next objective is to estimate the volume per acre variability in the stands and management units that lend themselves to timber management. Our final objective is to estimate the
current growth rates of the different coniferous species. In a team of two, a classmate and I surveyed the Valencia Creek Property and measured the diameter and heights of tree. We utilized diameter tapes, Biltmore sticks, clinometers, laser rangefinder, and increment borers.
