I worked in a team of five first-year students to design and build an apparatus that models arterial blood flow with a pump in order to allow a Research Triangle-based tech company, BLUR, to test their portable ultrasound device, Fortuna. We used Pugh Scoring and Screening matrices to weigh the pros and cons of various design solutions we came up with based on our client-specified design criteria. Ultimately, we decided on using a peristaltic pump to produce pulsatile and constant flow. We wrote code on an Arduino to control the pump and an LCD, to allow a user to vary the flow rate and bpm of the apparatus. Finally, we designed and laser cut a waterproof encasing for the system.

Along with working on all technical aspects of the project, I was a project manager and kept our group on task using Trello.
