Simplified Dental Implant Model
1 / 2
Overview:
This is the final project of a course called Introduction to Musculoskeletal Biomechanics, which was a graduate level course that I took during my senior year. I collaborated with another student to conduct finite element analysis of dental implant insertion torque. Our ultimate goal was to develop dynamic simulation with true dental implant models.

It was really hard to obtain the true 3-D model of the implant screws with their subtle dimensions. I tried using 3D scanners and optical comparators after consulting several professors, and we finally decided to simplify the model to a normal screw model. Even though the true model did not work out because of limited analytical tools and the short frame, I carefully identified problems and presented possible solutions to professors who were interested in continuing working on the project.
