This essay was one that I wrote as my final paper for my Immigration course I took here at the University of Maryland, College Park my sophomore year.

For this paper, we were told to share the immigration story of someone in our lives, and I decided to share my mothers. This paper was very special to me because it allowed me to reflect on my mothers life, and everything she had sacrificed to allow me to be where I am today. I also found it very special being able to “interview” my mom for the paper because she shared stories with me about herself and my family that I don't think I would know otherwise.

When writing this piece, our professor also told us to focus on “regrets” that the person we were writing about may have. Being able to listen to the things that my mom wished she had differently in terms of her life story made me even more grateful than I already was.
