With mobile music streaming apps becoming more accessible and popular, exercise enthusiasts have increasingly incorporated music as a part of their workout routines. Existing research suggests that music may help increase levels of motivation while working out. Fewer studies have examined the effects of music genre on specific metrics of exercise performance in maximal-intensity, short duration protocols.
This project's purpose was to determine through experimental design the ergogenic effects music has on college students in a maximal exercise bout, specifically regarding HR, RPE, and distance rowed.
