This project gave me an opportunity to do a real-life IT field project with a local company in San Diego. This unpaid internship for credit gave me an opportunity to work with a team, and business professionals to develop and implement a real IT solution for a company. This experience helped to sharpen my collaboration, project management, and technology skills and helped to grow my professional experience. The company is named Optifuse and we were tasked with updating their legacy ERP system to a modern data visualization and reporting software such as Excel or Tableau without spending time and resources on upgrading the system migrating all the data to a brand new system. We devised a cost and time effective solution that meets the companies needs using screenscraping software from at Datawatch Corporation to export data from the ERP system to external data visualization software.
